Born in New York and raised 8,800 miles away in New Zealand, Laraine moved to Atlanta in the late 70s with her husband, Bill, and their three children. She started working in the fashion industry soon after and her love of bringing happiness to her clients runs deep. Her creativity and catering to her customer’s needs is what has driven her success. LaRaine opened shop in the Virginia-Highlands area in 1996 where she sold designer clothing and a small collection of wedding gowns.
The Evolution of La Raine’s Bridal Boutique
La Raine’s Boutique became known for their wedding gowns and exceptional one-on-one service. Eventually, the need for a new location grew. Staying apart of the Virginia Highlands neighborhood was important to LaRaine, and there were no questions asked when the La Raine’s decided to relocate to 853 North Highland Avenue.
This historic house is over 100 years old, and it is full of history! The original owners, Mr. and Mrs. James Alexander Cook, held their daughter’s wedding in the house. It was only fitting that this house would end up being a wedding boutique.
The house was also a hot tub store (fun!), and it was Harvest restaurant for many years.
Renovations to restore the warm and “homey” atmosphere started and a few months later La Raine’s Bridal Boutique opened with new dressing rooms, parking lot, a living room, and most importantly, (lots) more wedding gowns!
